Issue #227 has been updated by r a.

Status changed from New to Feedback

Hi,

I found a workaround to the problem by having a separate mirrored boot disk for the OpenIndiana and applications, then using a second RAID5 drive for all user data.

Bug #227: OpenIndian b147 installation fails due to reboot

Author: r a
Status: Feedback
Priority: Low
Assigned to: OI Caiman

Target version:

Hi,

I am currently running Solaris 10 U5 on a Supermicro system (I have attached the output from the Device Drive Utility). I can successfully boot from the OpenIndiana b147 LiveCD, the DDU recognises all the hardware. However, when I attempt to install OpenIndiana and tell it to use the whole disk, press Next - my computer reboots. No errors are displayed. I experienced a similar problem with Solaris 10 U6, Solaris 10 U7, Solaris 10 U8 which is why I was waiting for OpenSolaris 05 2010 before attempting the change.

Can anyone help on how I should proceed? If I can not get OpenIndiana installed I will need to revert back to Solaris 10 u5.
