After entering the login credentials at the gdm login splash, the system halts and takes about 2 minutes before it brings up the GNOME desktop. It happens every time I log in on GNOME. I don't have this problem when using ssh.

Something else that is worth noting and that I think is related to this issue is that it takes a very long time for the vncserver to be ready when starting it over e.g. ssh.
