The script used to do the build is here:

It mostly a wrapper to configure the illumos.sh environment file, prior to
starting the build.

​Thanks, you're probably right.

This was hit when running on an EC2 AMI created about 6-9 months ago, and I
​don't think we do a "pkg refresh" nor "update" prior to installing
"build-essential" and doing the build.

I'll try out your suggestions and report back.
