The topics I'm interested in
- Approximate snapshot schedule. How do we determine that we are ready to make new one?
- What work can be imported from Hipster to Dev (e.g., it could be possible to move the whole sfw consolidation to oi-build which could make sharing code easier)?
- Collaboration with other illumos distributions - DilOS and OmniOS.
- Improving sites and documentation on the wiki. Currently it is a mess.
- Does someone really plan to do something besides talking? ;)

I do not have much time currently so I cannot follow the discussions and respond as often as I would like to.

Mapping "legacy" consolidations to hipster packages could be a preliminary step to determine where the effort is needed and decided which versions to freeze for the next "dev".

A set of wiki pages could be used to formalize the process as it is done for some JDS packages and actually get people to open tickets on the tracker instead of just posting on the mailing list.

I can only help punctually to update/fix/add packages, some of them are waiting in my branches but I have no time lately.
Having a space where to share information might help people like me to catch the ball when they have time (if ever), like "skim through the tracker, pick a favourite, fix" as I did with adding lft for Pedrag afew weeks ago.

Moving forward with hipster to ease assembling future releases seems a priority: the difficulty to get bash into dev supports what Alexander repeated several times, "lower the entry barrier, ease the building process".

I guess once the JDS consolidation is fully buildable in hipster things will become more streamlined ?

Best regards

Aurelien

--

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LARCHER Aurélien | KTH, School of Computer Science and Communication
