I still cannot boot with the .usb image though and get those same errors. If I try to install Hipster gui (using 1003.usb) I get the
console text below. I've also tried the March version and
neither the usb or cdrom version allow for installation
either. With the March usb I get the same errors as this, and
if using the cdrom I get a cursor on a green screen that

After checking ISO checksum, also try Hipster 20141010 ISO,<br clear="none">
that is what I last installed before updating.<br clear="none">

It would be interesting to know if with /dev OI every hardware on
laptop works (wireless, graphics, sound, hotkeys on keyboard or
