Yesterday I upgraded a Hipster installation from April 2016<br>
to the latest state (by starting a pkg update).<br>
<br>
I apparently could not boot beyond the single user mode, but<br>
the real reason appears to lie in a change in the video driver<br>
ABI. The Xorg log shows :<br>

This is with an Nvidia video "GeForce 6150 LE" not supported<br>
by former nvidia drivers shipped with OpenIndiana, so I had<br>
to use a legacy driver for Solaris. The one I was using is<br>
NVIDIA-Solaris-x86-304.125, and on the Nvidia site there is<br>
a newer NVIDIA-Solaris-x86-304.135.run which I have not tried<br>
yet.<br>

Update : I see the following comment for NVIDIA-Solaris-x86-304.135<br>
"Added support for X.Org xserver ABI 23 (xorg-server 1.19)"<br>
<br>
Is that the new ABI used by Xorg on OpenIndiana ?</blockquote><div><br></div><div>One always needs to update to a driver version supported by the current Xorg.<br></div><div>We updated to 1.18 (ABI == 20) and soon we will update to 1.19 (ABI == 23), so you should install the driver you mention.<br><br></div><div>Kind regards<br><br></div><div>Aurélien<br></div><div><br> </div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div class="HOEnZb"><div class="h5"><br>

Are the recent changes in the video ABI in line with the<br>
