As far as the error message for package manager you might post the error
message here.  What helps at times also is if you search for your error
message with Google with OpenSolaris in the search field.  This will
bring up a lot search terms then you can narrow it down, and if
necessary file a bug report after looking at the issues on the OI wiki
page.
