I check with the driver utility to see if all the found devices have a driver loaded.
For a O2 Micro, Inc   Integrated MS/xD Controller the utility returns "IPS" and in the info
dialog I get:

After installation, seemingly driver/storage/ata at 0.5.11,5.11-0.151.1 and apparently without error, the utility instructs that a reboot may be necessary in order to load the driver.  Upon reboot and subsequent running of the same utility, nothing seems to have happened and "IPS" is still indicated. 

pkg list driver/storage/ata indicates that the driver is installed.

How to configure the memory card reader?
