Intel Thunderbolt 2-certified Z87 motherboards now exist helping to revolutionize display and accessory data transfer speeds up to 20Gbit/s (4X faster than USB 3.0). Thunderbolt 2 drivers can simultaneously deliver extremely high-resolution video to the latest 4K/2K (4096 x 2160) displays and communicate with other bandwidth-hungry devices, such as hard drives. And with the ability to daisy-chain up to twelve devices to two Thunderbolt v2 ports without a hub or switch. For example, you can connect multiple Thunderbolt storage devices, an HD video capture device, and a monitor to a single Thunderbolt chain while maintaining maximum throughput with no slowdown. You can also connect DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, or VGA cards and displays using adapters. Proposed support for upcoming DisplayPort 1.3 devices.
