oi_148a was an experimental respin which has unfortunately been
placed in the same public directory as the regular oi_148
development release. Could you use the oi_148 live media from
http://openindiana.org/download/ and see if this bug is present
there as well? If not, you're hitting a known bug
(http://www.illumos.org/issues/759).

If you mean the text console, you can use "svcadm disable gdm" to
disable the graphical login manager.

Support questions are generally better asked on
openindiana-discuss at openindiana.org where the broader community
hangs out. Bugs should be reported at
http://bugs.openindiana.org/ (please use the search function to
ensure that it is not an already known bug).
This list is primarily aimed at people interested in becoming
contributors to the project.
