[OpenIndiana-New-developers] how to get started ...

Hi,
I've been doing software development (mostly Unix, mostly kernel, mostly
networking, mostly some overlap between the three) for a couple of
decades, but I'm new to OpenIndiana. I haven't actually had much more
than casual interaction with Solaris, though. (But lots of working
through the guts of some other Unixes going back as far as Bell Labs V6
and V7 code on pdp-11s.)
I've got a VM of the oi_151a7 build installed but I'm trying to figure
out where to go next. I have a few questions.
1. Is there active development going on with this? It appears as if
there aren't a lot of posts on the mailing lists I've sampled, but there
are a few, and some recent wiki updates, so *something* is going on.
2. I'd like to start out by getting a source tree to browse, and if I
have to pick I want to start with the kernel. Is the best way to do
this is to retrieve stuff from the mercurial repositories that appear to
exist on hg.openindiana.org? There seem to be a lot there, which one
should I start with?
I'm not sure how far I want to get into this in terms of being an active
contributor, but I want to start out by familiarizing myself with the
system and finding out what the strengths and weaknesses are, and then I
can try to decide what if anything it makes sense for me to contribute.
