I should have been more clear in the mail, but I'm literally only talking about critical security holes. By critical I mean holes that can be exploited by external parties to obtain unauthorised access to a box - like the Exim remote root exploit that happened recently.

Having a supported branch containing (in particular) security fixes is sensible and practical considering the number of OI developers.

We obviously get the experience of maintaining (more) local changes to the various incorporations.

We figure out the mechanics of getting these into IPS and having clients pull consistent patches down. (Someone with practical experience of Sun^WOracle's support repo would help here...)

This is going to be needed post the Illumos ON transplant.

It will be useful to people with installs in production :-)

So it works for me :-)

I know the driver doesn't just lock up any more like it did in 134, but is there another problem?

Cheers,

Chris
