I'm cleaning up some bits in response to an initial review from
richlowe. As you'll glean from the issue, I'm shooting to update to
1.7.9, which is the latest and recommended release.

I don't use git a great deal, so I'm hoping to find a few people who do
and who would be willing to try this out before I submit it for
review/RTI.
