Thanks for pointing that out, Aurélien! Indeed Jonathan ported it to 
__sun: https://github.com/NetBSD/pkgsrc/tree/trunk/x11/vte3. I'll have a 
look at it.

I didn't get even that far, but it's noticeable from OS/HW detection 
that Meson has Linux in mind.
