Thanks for that suggestion!  I knew about the build-essential package
on several Linux distributions, but do not recall seeing it before for
OpenIndiana Hipster.

I just did that on three independent Hipster VMs at my site, and found
that it installed more than 850 new files in /usr/bin, with
clang-18.1, gcc-13.1, and ghostscript 10.04.

All three systems now report "November 2024" in their login greeting.
