Still no go - I created a profile "User" and added the two interfaces that
get used. Here's my ncp-user.conf file, and some screenshots of what my
interfaces are looking like in NWAM.

interface:ibp1
type=uint64,1;class=uint64,1;parent=string,User;enabled=boolean,true;ipv4-de
fault-route=string,10.0.1.254;ipv4-addr=string,10.0.1.79/24;ipv4-addrsrc=uin
t64,2;ipv6-addrsrc=uint64,0,1;ip-version=uint64,4,6;
interface:ibp0
type=uint64,1;class=uint64,1;parent=string,User;enabled=boolean,true;ipv4-de
fault-route=string,10.0.1.254;ipv4-addr=string,10.0.1.56/24;ipv4-addrsrc=uin
t64,2;ip-version=uint64,4;
interface:e1000g1
type=uint64,1;class=uint64,1;parent=string,User;enabled=boolean,true;ipv4-ad

I notice this seems to be the Automatic profile. That's quite strange
as the Automatic profile is not allowed to be modified here. The
profile only allows a single interface with DHCP, and interface and
profile edit dialogs have all fields greyed out. Customising it
involves add a User profile. Perhaps you've found a bug in
nwam-manager? Does using an additional profile help?
