Just install the disks and boot.
I have found it to be very portable.
I have done an rpool Sata boot disk from VM Workstation raw disk 32 bit, 
to older AMD64 dual cpu, to modern Intel 5420 dual cpu and back again.

It just booted without issues.

Nic does change, but that's easy to handle.
