[OpenIndiana-discuss] OI148, LDAP, samba and SSL?

Hello,

I want my samba server to store its user data in my LDAP directory
(OpenDS).
Because the Samba server and LDAP server run on different machines (both
machines
run OI 148 upgraded from OI 147), I want to use SSL to encrypt the
communication
- unfortunately without success.

I've tried all combinations and variants of the "passdb backend" and
"ldap ssl"
options in smb.conf, but all I got was the message:

smbldap_open_connection: Secure connection not supported by LDAP
client libraries!
Connection to LDAP server failed for the 1 try!

Without encryption everything works fine. It's also possible to use
ldapsearch
with an SSL connection. Ldapsearch is linked with /usr/lib/libldap.so.5,
while
the samba server and utilities are linked with /usr/lib/libldap60.so. Is it
possible that the latter library lacks the SSL support? And is there a
workaround
for this problem? (I've googled around a little, but all I found was an old
OpenSolaris bug report
http://bugs.opensolaris.org/bugdatabase/view_bug.do;jsessionid=6179d2a103f919d94c397beb0517?bug_id=6641606)

Thank you very much for your help in advance.

Regards,

    Henner
