Ok, I'm staring at the grub prompt in a KVM VM of 148 text mode ISO.

Here is what you can try typing at the grub prompt:

kernel$ /platform/i86pc/kernel/$ISADIR/unix
module$ /platform/i86pc/$ISADIR/boot_archive
