GDM in OI is based on JDS and therefore benefits from the
integration work by Oracle. Oracle employees are involved with
GDM upstream and are likely to keep GDM working even _if_ CK
should go away some day in the distant future. And it is far from
clear whether it will go away at all, not all Linux distros will
buy into systemd. Redhat not caring about portability (at least
after one of their "innovations" has gained enough momentum) and
hitting at other vendors (in this case Ubuntu) is also hardly
anything new.
So in short: there is not much to see here, please move along.
