/etc/X11/xorg.conf seems to be where it actually looks these days.  Likely there's a .xorg.conf file in /etc/X11 now.

Here's the file from my Solaris 10 system.  My OI system is just for the Internet and thus single screen.

This almost certainly won't be what you need, but it will give you an example to work from.

Once you have a file, the nVidia utility should update it for you.  It can make you want to tear your hair out though.  I would not describe the xconf setup as robust.  So keep a copy of anything that works before you "improve" it.

Log file is in /var/log
