Did you test if "reboot -p" (via "PROM" == via BIOS on x86) to disable
fastboot helps in this case? While I don't remember hangs, there are
kernel module complaints (something about PCI) when I do soft-reboots.

If "prom"-reboot helps, you can reconfigure SMF to do it upon "reboot".
