I don't think it will work, but you may try: too many dependencies on new packages that may
collide with your OI ones, also the kernel is updated with newer glib and is patched to work with it.
We would like if you can provide us with the problems you encountered on our desktop so we can
fix them, preferably sending an email on our mailing list:

I tried a short hour XStream Desktop beta. Not yet stable enough but VLC 2.1.0 and LibreOffice 4.1.0.4, XFCE 4.10 and more are here.
May I declare http://pkg.sonicle.com/xstreamos-beta/ as a package repository and install LibreOffice and VLC on openindiana-a8 or
hipster without breaking the whole OS ?
