Sorry for the delay in responding, but I've been away.

I'm not so sure I'm the best one to write a "best practice" article about anything!  I'll be happy to give it a shot, but I think somebody who knows more than me should probably review it to make sure what I say is at least reasonably correct.

I think what might be more helpful is a series of pages on migrating from Linux.  There are quite a few things I ran into with this project that were less than enjoyable.

Let me get OpenIndiana actually implemented, and we'll see what we can do.
