Just a guess, but maybe time-slider reads these properties only on
startup, and if you change them you need to restart time-slider (?).
Worth a try.

I would imagine it possible with some combination of "pkg refresh" and
"pkg update", but not sure of the exact commands. You would likely
need to update all the dependencies as well.
