Thanks for the info, I guess I shouldn't have any issues then either
(even though this is a revision C602J chipset, not C602 as in your
case). I've also been thinking about going with the SAS-less variant:

(no useless HW RAID LSI SAS 2208 controller)
I plan on booting off of a pair of Vertex 4 SATA SSDs connected to the
on-board C602 SATA AHCI controller. The main pool will be in a separate
enclosure connected over SFF-8088 MiniSAS cabling to a pair of LSI SAS
9200-8e HBAs.
