It's only fully binary compatible with the long obsolete Oracle Solaris 11
Express 2010.11 though (Oracle's build 151a) - though even there it's not
fully compatible for interchange of ZFS pools.
Oracle has additions in Solaris 11.0 & 11.1 that OI does not have, so you
cannot claim full binary compatibility with those, just mostly. Of course,
illumos has also added things that Solaris doesn't have, and continues to
support several things Solaris removed, so Solaris can't claim to run all
illumos software either.
Many of these areas may be corner cases or new features your apps don't use,
so you may not notice them, especially if you're just trying to keep old apps
running, not maintain full source compatibility for new software.
I know people trying to build the X11 sources I release from Solaris have found
some linker flags they use on Solaris 11.1 missing on OI, but I use new linker
flags much more than most apps do.
