[OpenIndiana-discuss] idmapd errors on cifs in kernel.

Just to reply to my thread in-case it helps someone else.

My problem seems to be the idmap daemon cannot discover what site it is a member of, so chooses any one seemingly at random. The error seems to only happen when using a domain controller from another site. The idmap server likes to change domain controllers quite often as well.

My work around is to create an entry in the local hosts file for each of the remote domain controllers and give it the ipaddress of a DC in the same building. The idmap server tries this wrong address, but does not like it for some reason, but moves quickly to another DC until it gets one of the correct ones. Very ugly but it has the desired effect and has solve my problems.

Um, you may be right, we have many sites (correctly setup in site and services), 2 DCs at head office with the openindiana fileserver, but the "thread creation refused - 40 threads currently active" occurs only when I get a message "Using server servername" so it is using a server at a remote site. How do I get it to ignore the remote sites?

Thanks

John
