[OpenIndiana-discuss] Safe to exchange mpt_sas driver ?

Hi,
I need support for a LSI sas2308 chip on oi-dev a9 (pciex1000,6e),
so I checked for a mpt_sas driver that supports that and found
one on XtreamOS. Is it really safe to exchange the old oi-dev a9
/kernel/drv/amd64/mpt_sas driver with the new one ? I plugged that
in with modload, no complaints, but I don't have the HBA yet, so
I don't know if that really will work (and I won't buy one if
this can't be  confirmed).
Any experiences ?
