Not needed.
Tested both Firefox 24.0.2 & Thunderbird 24.0.2 pre-built packages from Mozilla.org site on OI. Works fine!! We can just download and use the newer packages so no work involved here.

Decommission Thunderbird 3.1.4 packages from hipster repo and replace with updated Thunderbird 10.0.12ESR (or 17.0.9ESR) package.

Decommission: mail/thunderbird at 0.5.11,5.11-0.151.1.8:20130305T140749Z
Replace with: mail/thunderbird at 0.5.11,5.11-0.151.1.8:20130721T123824Z 
 
Tested and preferred binary to use (on >=hipster 2013.10.23): ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/latest-esr/contrib/solaris_tarball/thunderbird-17.0.9esr.en-US.opensolaris-i386.tar.bz2
