Yes, exactly. I've just seen this in Joyent's pkgsrc (look, for example 
at https://github.com/joyent/pkgsrc-wip/blob/joyent/mk/git-package.mk) 
and so was interested is (or should be) there a standard way to do it in 
oi-userland.
