There are mentions of Sun though on the ABI committee page, so it wasn't
completely out of the picture:
http://mentorembedded.github.io/cxx-abi/
Solaris Studio 12.3 dropped support for the oldest of the incompatible C++
ABI's, the one left from Sun Workshop 4, which couldn't work for C++98 standard
compliant programs:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24457_01/html/E21986/ossrn.html#gljqx
And has announced future versions will similarly drop support for pre-C++98
libraries:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24457_01/html/E21986/ossrn.html#gljri
So hopefully the ABI's will continue converging more as time goes on.
