Just wanted to add this link for all those who are still having problems
with OI and VB.

This kind of describes a few of the questions raised in this thread, I
noticed it as a link posted on the OS blog by a fellow user.

I personally drank the root and pfexec koolaid and just consider it as
part of OI and OS character.  I remember a few years ago I made the
mistake of changing root role from my current user and was locked out
and had to boot into SI mode in a recovery CD to reassign my user the
privilege taught me a lot about the recovery process.
