The other files you'll want to check (I'm unsure if these are essential)
when setting up a NIC are:
/etc/nsswitch.conf
/etc/defaultrouter
NWAM does static IP nicely, just not all settings are entirely accessible by
GUI (imo config files are simpler/nicer anyway).
