[OpenIndiana-discuss] ZFS improvements.

I see first thing as being really important in zfs: the ability to reduce
zpools, i.e. if my storage requirement decreases I should be able to remove
physical disks from the zpool. This cannot, AFAIK, be done at the moment. It
has to be done where I am currently working: part of the business has been
sold and as a result several disks could be removed from a database zpool,
which has roughly halved in size. We have to jump through a lot of hoops to
do this now, with some serious downtime (I think this will take longer than
a single weekend). Surely we cannot be the only site to have experienced

The next thing would be encryption. This is critical for those of us who
take our laptops to see clients, and thus data is a little more susceptible.
I know this is available with Sol 11 Exp, but not yet with the other
distributions. Having the boot device encrypted (I believe this is not yet
possible?) would also be useful.
