Greetings,
I'm trying the OI build 148 Live DVD out on a new Dell Optiplex 980,
and hitting a problem after selecting the default (first) grub item
to boot up.
The OS fails to come up, instead giving the error:
ld.so.1: svc.startd: fatal: libfmevent.so.1: Open failed: No such file or
directory
ld.so.1: svc.startd: fatal: relocation error: file /lib/svc/bin/svc.startd:
symbol _i_fmev_publish_nvl: referenced symbol not found
(and repeats a couple more times). Then it asks for a username to
login for system maintenance.
This seems identical to OpenSolaris bug id 6980491, which I can't get
to except in the Google cache. I don't think this has anything to do
with what kind of hardware I'm trying it on.
So, what should I be using if not build 148? 148a? 148b?
How far are we from a new stable release, anyway? I find the lack
of news a bit concerning. I do hear that all the action is on an IRC
channel somewhere, but I'm afraid my workflow does not allow me to
keep an ear open for realtime conversations. I find even RSS feeds
too distracting -- give me plain old email, or a blog I can login to
once in awhile, and I can keep involved that way.
Regards,
Marion
