>From the looks of things at Highpoint, writing a driver appears to be a pretty grim undertaking.  The "open source" code doesn't appear to include all the source.

I notice in some searching on pricewatch.com that the Sabrent SBT-SRD4 which sells for ~ $30US is based on  an Sil3114 which appears to have a Solaris driver. There are apparently some bugs, so be careful.
