As far as i know, OI was forked from open solaris before encryption was
added to zfs, and clearly that code won't be released by Oracle now.

As far as i am aware, No.  Which is why we can't simply send to an
encrypted zfs filesystem ;) I would love it if i could do that, but i can't.

Not sure if encryption is on the cards for the OI fork of ZFS?
