If you lose your log device (and system crashes) on a current system, you don't lose your whole pool.  But you *do* lose the last few seconds of sync-writes on that pool.  So as long as you can afford that loss ...

AND you don't have any clients depending on the state of the server to remain consistent...

Then it's ok.
