Well, we have a H8SGL-F, I believe your board is using the same BMC...
a winbond WPCM450.
We suffered quite a bit at first, and with dutch support, although
helpful, not extremely useful except apparently for windows platforms.
We did need to install, at the time, smt_207. We're running smt_236
right now.
I"ve used IPMIview to varying degrees of success, the latest used is
V.2.7.21 (build 110412) certainly far from the latest.
In any event, most functions seem ok, even text console (which is
horridly slow). iKVM is apparently still not supported on a sunos
platform. It's added value is mostly only the graphical display.
I found that for a console, ipmiconsole, in lan mode, the most useful.
The other ipmi functions from freeipmi and ipmitool and seem to work
fine too.
I believe there is some work getting bmc local device support going on
in sunos land, but not sure of the progress for this particular device.
I'm also hoping someday for miraculous APCI, BMC and KVM support for
the Opteron platform, but am not holding my breath.
What are your bios settings for the bmc device?
On the OI side, here is our menu.1st entry which was needed:
title oi_151a2
findroot (pool_rpool,0,a)
bootfs rpool/ROOT/oi_151a2
kernel$ /platform/i86pc/kernel/$ISADIR/unix -B
$ZFS-BOOTFS,console=ttyb,ttyb-mode="115200,n,B,1,-"
module$ /platform/i86pc/$ISADIR/boot_archive
