[OpenIndiana-discuss] Access to /etc on a pool from another system?

beadm proved to be the key to the puzzle. I got the root filesystem from the disk mounted. However, because of the convoluted process, I want to repeat the process before I write up an explanation.

The thing that *appeared* to solve the problem was to rename the openindiana BE on rpool to oi_148. That seems to have allowed the mount of the openindiana BE on fpool to work. It appears that beadm cannot deal w/ BE name conflicts.

I'm particularly interested in this because it might solve the problem I had cloning system images. I'd *really* like to be able to exactly replicate a complete system image onto a disk which wasn't identical the way I used to do w/ UFS. I didn't need to do that very often, but it was a huge help when I needed it.

Many thanks to all.

Have Fun!
Reg
