[OpenIndiana-discuss] useradd - strange behaviour

Hello all,

I am running OpenIndiana 11 64-bit (SunOS 5.11) and somehow I get the
following error when I attempt to use useradd:

root at zeus:~# useradd -d  /s1pool/postgres/ -g postgres -s /usr/bin/bash
postgres
UX: useradd: ERROR: Inconsistent password files.  See pwconv(1M).
root at zeus:~#

Both /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow are there and look OK. What am I doing
wrong?
