I wasn't online for a long time, and probably 150 mails still need to
be answered. Only this much in advance: It was not my intention to
burn a single bridge.
It was probably not understood correctly. I only tried to protect myself.
And back then, a month ago, I simply attempted to emphasize, that I
did not simply just use Illumos. But that I really wanted to do
something not only with, but also for, Illumos.

I only said that it would technically be possible to just take OS/Net
and add the missing pieces, as in the past.
I never said it would be a good idea to partition our small community
even further.

If you see the slideshow that is part of OpenSXCE's Caiman
gui-install, then you see the Illumos logo face to face with the
OpenSXCE logo. As on my twitter account's background image.

Would I do that if I hated Illumos?
I could branch off, but for which reason?
It would be dumb to destroy the hot wire to these highly skilled
kernel engineers.

And it makes little sense, to just "steal" interesting new diffs from
upstream Illumos .
Consequently I think it would be the best for the community's future,
to leave the SPARC code inside Illumos and to base OpenSXCE on it.

And if users really demand IPS, ok.
Then we could think about doing that, too.
Definitely it would be a ton easier, than correcting/creating/removing
the SVR4 pkgdefs for about 100000 files (speaking of all
consolidations, the OpenSXCE gate contains 9GB).
>From August to September I did fiddle with IPS, so that's not impossible.
It only consumes light-years of CPU time.

I also do not intend to harm the friendly busy helpful OI community.
So it will probably be best to work together with OI and to have both
at once (just as in the good old times SXCE and Indiana, from November
2007 till early 2010).
