I don't think the support for Solaris 8 or 9 branded zones was released,
since those are only supported in Solaris 10, not Solaris 11, but I may
have forgotten a release along the way.   The Solaris 8/9 branded zones
products that run on Solaris 10 were only released for SPARC, not x86.

If you need to run Solaris 8 or 9 for x86, I'd recommend a VM - but I'd
also recommend reconsidering how much longer you need to support those.
Their support life runs out this year, and thus the flow of security
fixes stops coming (for those paying for support at least - without
support, you've got unpatched security holes either way).
