At that point, OI doesn't see the real disks, so no configuration and no possible issues (other than unforeseen surprises in the VBox guest additions).

Still, why OI if you can't benefit from ZFS?

One other aspect that has occurred to me after seeing the responses:

This maybe a vbox vm hosted on a windows 7 host (2x xeon HP xw8600
Workstation). (I haven't decided yet whether to dedicate that hardware
to a real install of oi or leave it as I bought it with OS windows7
and go the vm route)

And in that case it would be virtual drives being created on SSD
hardware.

Will that setup be likely to be more problematic than a non-virtual
install of oi on that hardware?
