Hi,
I have also gave up on my /hister dekstop (reverted back to 24esr version which works, for how long - it is question).
Now I have tried FF opensolaris package from within zone (which runs on my /hipster installation. It complains about missing dbus -
but still works). All this from OI Zone:
$ head -1 /etc/release
OpenIndiana Development oi_151.1.9 X86 (powered by illumos)
$ pkginfo -l SFWfirefox
PKGINST: SFWfirefox
NAME: Mozilla Firefox Web browser
CATEGORY: GNOME2,application,JDSosol
ARCH: i386
VERSION: 28.0,REV=110.0.4.2014.03.17.10.02
BASEDIR: /
VENDOR: Sun Microsystems, Inc.
DESC: Mozilla Firefox Web browser
PSTAMP: jdsbld1420140317114238
INSTDATE: Mar 25 2014 08:20
...
Started 1st time and was able to download file:
$ ls -al Downloads/*
-rw-r--r-- 1 zeka other 43268404 Mar 25 08:26 Downloads/firefox-28.0.en-US.opensolaris-i386.tar.bz2
Started 2nd time, and tried another one
(https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/27.0.1/contrib/solaris_tarball/firefox-27.0.1.en-US.opensolaris-i386.tar.bz2):
$ ls -al Downloads/*
-rw-r--r-- 1 zeka other 42209846 Mar 25 08:34 Downloads/firefox-27.0.1.en-US.opensolaris-i386.tar.bz2
-rw-r--r-- 1 zeka other 43268404 Mar 25 08:26 Downloads/firefox-28.0.en-US.opensolaris-i386.tar.bz2
And it worked. So, not Mozilla, but '/hipster' made some changes which in combination with latest FF releases doesn't work. I cannot
reproduce 'unable to save' problem in OI zone, which runs '/dev':
$ pkg publisher -a
PUBLISHER TYPE STATUS URI
openindiana.org origin online http://pkg.openindiana.org/dev/
sfe origin online http://pkg.openindiana.org/sfe/
sfe-encumbered origin online http://pkg.openindiana.org/sfe-encumbered/
Earlier (2 weeks ago) I have run both (24esr and 28) FF versions with truss, and couldn't find too much difference. It is probably
some library or RBAC difference. No idea.
Regards.
