Hipster provided the recent kernel builds and
updates from the upstream consolidations.

We had discussed hipster as being oi-151a10.

/dev is just a timestamp on a snapshot. A Hipster snapshot can replace /dev once the major consolidations are successfully built and tested. 

Hipster is like upgrading from Win98 to Win7. You'd want a clean install to test and use. Migrate your apps over to the new install. Usually takes about 1-2 hours rather than fighting over upgrade issues.
