Hi.
These are old package versions. Both of them should be updated (to later 
versions) to coexist.

Current gdm version is 
system/display-manager/gdm at 2.30.7,5.11-2016.0.0.5:20160816T172935Z,
xterm version is terminal/xterm at 318,5.11-2016.0.1.2:20161029T155151Z .

You'd likely want to find out, why your system doesn't want to update to 
the latest version.
Likely this package conflict is just an indication of some other issue.
