The "unstable" definition of Hipster means that you can expect version
bumps with occasional breakage: it does not mean that your system will
collapse. This is a rather common misunderstanding of "stable".

The base system being what you can expect from illumos, it is "stable"
as in "not falling" apart.

Some bugs may occasionally appear for Desktop components but I have
the same and even more on my Debian stable (e.g minus the ones I fixed
i oi-userland).

The bottom line is: I have been running Hipster for my researchin the
past 4 years. Now running MATE + Xorg 1.18.4 on 3 workstations (Intel
and Nvidia graphics).

Another thing: Hipster is what people make of it, so the more love it
is given, the better it is e.g contributions to oi-userland are
welcome.
