We ar on 45.7 but mine also dumps core on exit, and I get impression it 
is some dissatisfying thing with Thunderbird extensions that makes it 
dump core on exit.
Same thing happens to me with Firefox, but as said I think it depends on 
extensions installed.
Once I started making a tree out of what extension is installed that 
makes them dump core or not.

Post a bug report, try doing
echo '$C'|mdb core    and pstack core and let's see what to do with both 
of them.

They are usually fairly stable for everyday use for me, except when I am 
exiting them.
